Unable to insert compressed video

I am having trouble inserting video clips into the timeline. I bring them into the media pool and attempt to drag and drop them into the timeline. They just don't drop into the timeline. They are compressed using Divx pro 5.11 Does anyone know what might remedy this? I'm getting very large output files and I want to use compressed media.

I have had some luck using *ivx type files. It all depends. 50/50 chance for me. Some work, some dont. You could always try direct stream copying using Virtual Dub and creating a new AVI without recompressing. I have been able to use this method to get some files to work in VV5 this way.

hmm i'm not quite sure what you mean. Could you tell me what menus or where in the program I can find that?

VirtualDub is a freeware program for processing or frameserving video. The best place to find out about it is here http://www.virtualdub.org/
