Unable to install Vegas 4 on my other partition?????

Hi,

Here is my problem. Downloaded the Vegas 4 upgrade from SoFo. I have Win XP on
my drive twice, in a partition, to keep the video stuff separate. Now, I stupidly
downloaded the self extractor to the XP I do not use for video. The install works
fine there, but will NOT extract in the other partition. I cannot install it from
either a disc or from my other physical drive D:???
I get the following message <unable to write to temp directory in C: Documents
and settings\"my name"."computer name"\local settings\temp Anyone know what the problem is?

The problem is that the user account you are using isn't allowed to access that particular folder. Are you logged in as admin? Also, (if I understand you correctly, you have 2 copies of XP installed, correct?), if you are trying to install to the other partition, the other copy of XP MIGHT of locked that partition so noone can play with it. I've never used XP but have used SGI's with IRIX and had simular problems (didn't have access to a certain folder with my account). Try installing from admin, and if you're installing from admin, make sure you can access the temp folders (i know it sounds stupid, but in Windows admin ISN'T god, unlike Unix where the root can do whatever he wants).
