Unable to Mix Audio error

I'm getting the "Unable to mix audio" error a lot...Where it plays great for a certain amount of time, and then just hicups and stalls till it says the error message. From the research I've done, most people seemed to reccomend taking source footage off external firewire drives and copying to internal. Is this the only option available? I've got stuff spread across 2 firewire drives (H and I), and 1 scsi(G). The "C" drive is an IDE and my "D" drive is on a scsi. I've got sources on G, H, and I, and I plan to render to G in the end.
It's a little ridiculas- It'll play just video fine, and just audio fine...But not both at the same time...AND it's not complex transistions or multi layers of stuff, it does it on JUST one 1 track, and 1 stereo audio track.
Any ideas?
I'm running a P4 1.7GHz, 768mb Ram, Win XP, Canopus ADVC-100, ADS pyro card, and both FW drives are in ADS cases. And the latest update of VV3.
It's frustrating, cuz the interface is superior to adobe's, but this annoying stalling thing is really tickin' me off. -Help!

I get the exact same problem with exactly same conditions, expect that some of my hardware is different. I read all related posts, and people's hardware is very different, yet they report the same symptoms. Some people have complex audio situations, but like RockyRobinson, mine is very simple, juts one DV video track and its stereo audio track.

Any solution yet?

Thanks!

Hi,
I REALLY wish I could tell you both what fixed my Exact Same Problem! I feel your frustration. I only got this with XP, not 98SE.
I would get the symptoms even when playing clips via VV's Explorer window, but only on DV stuff, while others are reporting problems with Mpeg as well.

Things to try: Rebuild the project on the timeline after deleting all .sfk's and older .veg files pertaining to project.
Move files over to another HD (at least temporarily).
Play back each individual file in Win Media Player. Examine your system for ANY other type of multimedia playback issues. Example: I had sound card issues at the same time, but this should not have anything to do with it, so maybe just a coincident??

If you find a fix, let us know. SoFo is looking into it as well.

Keep troubleshooting & Good luck
