Unable to Open Lagarith AVIs(Vegas Pro 12)

LastQuestion wrote on 11/8/2012, 2:42 PM
I'm able to render out Lagarith files through Sony Vegas Pro 12 without issue and then encode them to mp4 with another program. They play fine in MPC and WMP. Yet when I try to import a Lagarith file Vegas rendered it states: "Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files. An error occurred while opening a codec".

Rather strange Vegas can't open a file it rendered. So, is there a way to fix this?

Running Build 394.

I have some Lagarith AVIs that I rendered from VP12. I am able to put these on the timeline without any problems. Are your files AVIs?

Yes they are AVIs. It's nice to hear you have no issues using Lagarith files. Are you using 32 or 64bit? Using 64 bit myself. Installed Lagarith via the .exe installer.

What does Mediainfo say the codec is? If you copy the Mediainfo output into a post so we can see it, we will be better able to make suggestions.

Lagarith clip generated from Particle Illusion works 100% in V12 with alpha enabled.

I have Vegas Pro 12, Build 394.

Are there different flavors of Lagarith? I installed mine using a link from a Forum discussion on workflow (sorry, cannot find that thread right at this moment).

Don't know about flavours but there is a 32 & 64 bit version.

I have version 1.3.27 from this site:
http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html

I see Lagarith.dll drivers in both 32- and 64-bit land. Now the question is, which driver if Vegas Pro 12 using when it renders? Probably 64-bit?

Kimberly

@Kimberly

Using 1.3.27 from that site as well. The customize window for Lagarith in Vegas says it's using the 64 bit version. Both dll's are in the right folders; system32 for 32bit, sysWOW64 for 64 bit. I installed using the .exe from that site. Although, I do also have K-lite installed. However, K-lite detected Lagarith was installed and left it alone.

I was able to solve it. I uninstalled via control panel and then had to go delete the reg keys as well. Ran across a thread where it talked about unregistering a codec instead of doing that using Gspot too. Didn't try that but might've worked as well.

thread for using Gspot: http://superuser.com/questions/115897/trouble-installing-lagarith-lossless-codec-codec-removal

Just Google about reg edits, plenty of generic links with enough info to do it.
