Unable to reinstall Pro 20 on same laptop

Richard-Ma wrote on 10/30/2025, 3:27 PM

I had an old version of Vegas 12 on my Lenovo laptop when I tried to install Vegas Edit V20 for the first time, the installation was successful. But when I ran the new version it crashed. I tried to reinstall V20 and would get this error message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." I am installing via the exe file on my desktop.

@Richard-Ma What do you mean with " the new version"? Vegas 23?

It would be good if you gave some more information such as PC specs, windows version and anything else that may help focus in to the problem. Best way to install is via the installer, can you download it from your Magix account?

Another user solved the error by doing this:

When you try to upgrade/uninstall your version of Vegas and see this error message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable", do the following...

1) check your build of Vegas. For me it's 20.0.0.214. It should be displayed somewhere when you launch the program.

2) now search for your build's installer here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/news-forum/patches/

3) once you download the installer, extract its' contents using 7-Zip (https://7-zip.org/). You may want to copy the path of the location you extracted to

4) now try again upgrading/uninstalling Vegas and when it throws you the abovementioned error, just point the installer/uninstaller to the location where you extracted the contents of installer's exe. You may paste the path you copied in 3)

5) the process of upgrading/uninstallation should now continue as expected

I think the latest build of VP-20 was 411. The unpacked installation file for VP-20 bld 411 and earlier builds can be downloaded here,

Here is my Lenovo laptop specs- Intel i7 @ 2.8 GHz, 16GB ram, Win 11 build 25H2
I tried downloading the unpacked installation file for VP-20 bld 411 from the above link but still end up with the exe file. I tried extracting the exe file but did not come up with anything. What am I doing wrong?

Try double left mouse clicking on the exe file?
