I am trying to record audio from my cassette player from the out of my headphone jack of my cassette to the line-in of my computer. I hear the music out of my computers speakers, But I am unable to record the audio into Vegas or Sound Forge for editing. Can anyone help me.

Depending on which version of windows; this is win98:

Double click on volume control, select Options, then Properties, then Recording. Make sure Line is selected to display, then click ok. Click Select for Line, it's probably defaulted to CD.

Other versions are similar, if not exactly the same...

You may find this suggestion elementary, but, have you armed your Vegas track(s) for recording? There's a little red button to the left of the track which, when clicked, 'arms the track for recording.'

Do the meters respond in conjunction with the sound that you hear through your speakers?

If not, then, as has been suggested, your line-in setting may not be selected, or, your tracks may not be 'armed.'

Hope this helps.
