I have a question about uncompressed AVI. One software program I use
prduces a file about 10-15 MBs. Another makes the same file about 100
MBs. Is this normal? Do different programs produce different size files
for the same exact video clip? It can vary depending on your software?
Actually it varies with the settings used for the .AVI file. Full broadcast quality AVI, 29.97fps, 640x480x24 bit color, takes about 1.2GB per minute. However, AVI files can also have slower frame rates, smaller frame size, fewer bits per pixel, and a variety of compression schemes (DV, Cinepak, Indio, Huffyuv, DivX, etc.). Any of these can drastically reduce the size of the file.
