Uncontrolled Video Fade to Black.

Hi,
The subject title sort of sums it up. For some reason (I'm sure it's very obvious but am still trying to learn Vegas Pro 8) suddenly my project time line has a video fade on it. I didn't (intentionally) put a fade in. It's as though there's a master fade for the video? No mater what clip I put on the time line, no matter what track I put it on, by a specific point the video does a slow fade and is completely black and stays black for the rest of the project. The audio isn't effected. Sorry if I haven't described this accurately, it' sort of tough to explain. Any thoughts?
many thanks in advance,
Sprague

Each event has an opacity control at the top of the event. This is separate from the fades at each end of the event. It is VERY easy to "nudge" this downward somewhat, and this will make the video go darker.

You can make video fade:

1. By the faders at each end of the event
2. By the opacity control at the top of the event
3. By the track Level control
4. By adding a track composite level envelope to the track and then adding fade in/out points along that envelope.
5. By keyframing various fX that can control the levels of the video

I don't know if that is a 100% exhaustive list, but it gives you most of the main things to looks at.

Many thanks for getting back to me. I went through your suggestions and nothing's out of the ordinary. I placed clip on the video track above the active one, that too will automatically fade out at a specif point. It would appear that all tracks are effected, video only. I'm sure it's a very obvious answer but am totally stymied.

Enough poking around and I found it. Some how I assigned a fade controlled by the video bus. Thanks again!

Is the fade always happening at the same point on the timeline?

Have you checked the video bus track? 'View' menu 'Video Bus Track'. Make sure you don't have a "Fade to Color" envelope there.

Ahh, the one John forgot to mention. Never fails. There are so many ways to do each action in Vegas!

Ah, I've never used the video bus except to apply supersampling. Completely forgot that you can apply fX, fades, etc.
