djonimz - Wotz wrong with sticking the thing I just downloaded from www.findsounds.com into V4 - streccchhing it and pasting a few copies of the same underneath? I've just done it!! Make it as long as you want . . I'm listening to it right now . . I feel quite chilled out . . nice . .. Render to New Track as a "WAV" file - easy peasy . . .

Or have I missed something?

I have three underwater sound files (a sub, two that have a low rumble) that I used for an underwater sceen (with fish, sharks, whales, etc.). I've uploaded it to my industry website at the view sample sections.

www.thevideomaker.com (go to the "view samples" page). I would post it but this site is cloaked within another site and the top URL does not change.

I put it as a link on the last word of the Special FX paragraph:

Special FX. Sample 3D logos (glass, gold), static and spinning, blue screen effects, sound foley, animation, picture-in-picture, sync to music. Low-res version has fuzzy edges and glass looses transparency - DVD is laser sharp. (9.8 meg, 4 Min 13 Sec) - Can activate upon request (right click on the word request and download).

I saved all three as one "underwater.mp3" file.

I will keep it up for a day and then remove it.

Hope it helps.

<seriously!>

You can pull a condom over a microphone(!) and sink it in a bucket or a tub with water, and record all kinds of underwater noises as much as you like. Try it.

Always dipping condomed things in buckets ... no, sorry. Learnt it from an experienced sound engineer.

Also, Grazie, you can put a plastic bag over your microphone when it's raining. I will work just the same - well almost.

One of my more ... *ahem* ... interesting foley experiences invovled coming up with the splash sound of a person falling into a pond. I spent an evening with a mic hanging over the bathtub full of water tossing various things in. Nothing sounded right though. Everything sounded way too plastic, or wood, or metal, or whatever. Finally around midnight i decided i needed something floppy so i ran down to the convenience store to buy some balloons. They didn't have any. So i picked up the ... *ahem* ... next best thing, filled one with water (took about 3 gallons!) and dropped it in the tub. The bathroom got soaked, i got soaked, the cats got soaked, and the director loved the sound!
