Uninstall before upgrade?

I have finally purchased Vegas 8 Pro and DVDA 4.5 Pro. Can I (or should I) remove Vegas Movie Studio 8 and DVDA Studio 4.5 before I install the upgrades? I want to open my old Movie Studio 8 .vf files in Pro 8. All help appreciated!

Based on software like V7 and V8 - they all run happilly side by side.

Backup your VMS projects before you open them in V8, just in case you find you need any backwards compatibility. (not that you should once you've gone to the full version, but it doesn't hurt none-the-less)
