Uninstall Media Manager

Hi

I just tried the new Vegas 6 and I must say I like it very much. The HDTV options are impressive.

One thing though: I don't like the MediaManager and the whole SQL crap. Is it possible to uninstall it? I saw both can be uninstalled seperately by using the windows uninstaller. But will Vegas still work ok or will this cause problems?

Thanks in advance.

you can use it without just fine - though you would be missing some nice features .

You can disable it in Tools | Preferences

Thank you for your help. I must say I used Vegas 5 a lot and never missed the Media Manager. I like Vegas very much for its power and efficiency and relatively small hd footprint compared to Premiere and others. And the Media Manager is one thing that compromises this, it takes ages to load up (compared to Vegas 5), slows down the whole working speed (maintaining that needless media library) and has no real advantage for me.

Maybe I have to do a few experiments with the Media Manager to see how powerfull it really is, but at the moment it look to me like the feature Vegas never needed. What is so special about this manager???

Besides, the preference dialog is not under Tools but under Options but thanks for the tip. I disabled it for the moment so I can enable it when I need it without reinstall. Thats a good compomise.

I like the MM very much. The main advangate is for stock audio/video. What I did was imported all my audio & video stock, then I went through and added tags to them. Unlike organizing via folders, you can put multiple tags on each file, so a SFX/vid clip can be under many different tags. You can search by each individual tag, which is great. I check "production music" & it lists all my stuff tagged with that. I check prod music & vocals & it will sho everything that's in prodmusic & vocals. Very nice!

However, if you don't have lots of stock A/V it won't help that much. I do so I see it as a God send. :)

But yeah, it slows down opening Vegas. About the speed of Premiere with it enabled. :) I don't mind though, and I check the checkbox that keeps SQL loaded to cut my load times in 1/2.
