Uninstalled V6 trial- now error msg. in V5

Hi, I had the V6 trial and V5 on my system, and just today I uninstalled the V6 trial. Now when I open projects that I've been editing in Vegas 5, I get the following error message:

Warning: An error occurred when loading this project file.
An error occurred when loading an audio plug-in or audio plug-ins. The audio plug-in(s) are not installed on this system.

DETAILS
The audio plug-in "Sony Track Noise Gate" on track #4 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track EQ" on track #4 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track Compressor" on track #4 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track Noise Gate" on track #5 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track EQ" on track #5 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track Compressor" on track #5 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track Noise Gate" on track #6 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track EQ" on track #6 was not found or did not load properly.
The audio plug-in "Sony Track Compressor" on track #6 was not found or did not load properly.

I didn't have any audio FX on the tracks at all, that's what confuses me. So did I lose something that Vegas 5 needs when I uninstalled Vegas 6? It only does this when I open files I was previously editing with Vegas 5.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I would try reinstalling (or doing a repair install) of Vegas 5.

The "Noise Gate", "EQ", and "Compressor" are already there by default on a standard Vegas installation.

What exactly do you mean by this Ed? Those effects are still in Vegas when I click on the track FX. That's why I'm so confused. I think I'll try to "repair" it. Thanks for the help.

Hmmm...repaired and reinstalled it, and the same error came up. It seems as though once I save it in Vegas 5 now, the error message stops appearing when I reload.

I just want to make sure I have everything...

Perhaps someone at Sony can chime in here with a fix; nonetheless, it hits home the #1 rule of computering: back up your system frequently.

I have Retrospect doing a backup every morning at 4am, and I cannot count the times that I've had to go back in time because of some screwup or virus or whatever. Backups are your friend.

Ah, my good friend System Restore.

I restored it back to before I installed Vegas 6, and now everything is back to normal (the three plugins automatically apply to new audio tracks- unlike before, which was indeed the problem.)

Sony, you should definitely look into this. This could cause some problems when running both V5 and V6 on the same system.

Thanks for the help everyone!

Sorry to those running into this (trial V6 installed alongside full V5).

An uninstall/reinstall of Vegas 5 fixes the demo plug-in problem in our tests.

I am having simillar problem. I have now
uninstalled and deleted the V6 trial folder.
Uninstalled V5.0b, deleted Sony folder and then re-installed V5.0b.
I am still unable to restore some audio plug-ins ( EQ and Compressor).

Sony, until you give us a way of saving all our program preferences in Vegas (or Sound Forge or Acid for that matter), a suggestion like this is a complete pain.

It just shows that we really do need a way of exporting/saving all program prefs and customizations; there are many times when one needs to reinstall - like this case - or install on a new PC and you can spend hours just recustomizing the Sony apps. Seems silly to me, and not what I'd expect from professional apps.

My immidiate problem is recovery of the missing plug-ins so I can get-on and complete a project.

Any ideas?

Yes. Try the your Sony folder in the Start Menu - if it's still there - and go to Utilities>Migration Tools. Run "Register Sony Direct X Audio Plug-Ins".

I'm surprised Sony didn't suggest this; it should do the trick.

Thanks Ben. I was hoping that would do the trick but it hasn't.
Tried another 2 reinstalls.
I shall have to think on what to try next.
The missing one's
Track noisegate, equaliser and compressor are the only audio plug-ins I use.
Edit
Oh and Hammer surround as well but that one's there.

Ok I have got my missing audio plug-ins (Track noise gate, track equaliser and track compressor, back.
Apparantly V5.0b does not register these plug-ins. After several attempts at uninstall/reinstall and running migration tools (register Sony direct X plug-ins) I gave up.

Then I installed V5.0d and the plugins were restored.
So after deleting shared plugins directory, I reinstalled V5.0b. This gave my my missing plug-ins.
As I always say, ain't technology wonderful

Edit:
Oh I better go and reset all the preferences, properties to PAL, rearrange 2nd monitor and then install all those scripts back on the tool bar!! Again.

I get the same error messages but mine occurs when I try to open a V5 project in V6. V5 has been uninstalled from my machine. I never had the V6 trial installed. I tried the Register Audio FX tool but it didn't fix the problem.

Further, in V5 whenever you added an audio track Vegas put the Noise Gate, EQ and Compressor in for each track. In V6 when I add an audio track these FX are not added. Did this change? If so, why?
