Union University Tornado Video

jrazz wrote on 2/16/2008, 11:37 PM
I completed a video documenting some of the stories from the Super Tuesday Tornado outbreak and the devastation that occurred on campus at Union University. (by the way, this is my alma mater)

I have asked some for critiques on this and this version is the outcome of those critiques. I still need to go back through and deshake some of the video. The prior version was about 2 minutes longer and included more of the 911 audio and a different sound bed along with lengthier "slides". I am still waiting on audio from ABC (they said they would provide it, but just not soon. I figure when they do, I will go back and add it during the moments that follow the direct hit and deshake the footage then as well).

Comments are welcome. By the way, I mentioned you all in the credits. And thanks fldave for some "sound" audio!

Ugg Stage6 is horribly ssssslow right now but I love the intro. Gonna check back later for better than 300 baud connection speed. :)

I have added a link to the initial post that contains a flash video version of the file. It is quicker to load but the quality suffers.

Thanks,

A lady in my area sits on the board for a company and she saw this video and wants me to film a promo video for them. It is always nice to let your work speak for itself. :)

Jrazz:

I have some video of the tornado(s) if you want it. Very, very poor quality. My brother lives in the apartments next to the Union dorms and ran outside right after they passed and saw the two tornados moving away.

Im from Jackson BTW.

Nice to know there are more than 2 vegas users in Jackson.

That would be great. Is it emailable or is it somewhere where I could download it? Thanks.

The video is very well done. I like your fading from picture to picture. Also, the topic was very well covered.

BIgRed,

Thanks for the compliment. Glad you liked it. I wish there would have been more pictures (or footage for that matter) from the night of. I just couldn't get out there- too much was going on.

There seems to be a line that you don't want to cross concerning getting good footage that will tell a great story and being insensitive to the issue at hand (students trapped amongst the debris and rubble that you don't know if they are going to live or not).
