Unknown files MS creates

Between MS and my Sony's Click to DVD (for converting avi to dvd's) I am winding up with a bunch of various files on the hard drive I use for these operations. They are various types such as .pcm, .mv2, .ac3, and I think are primarily coming from MS. I can't open them, and I don't know what ones I can delete without messing up some of my completed .avi movies. Anybody have a clue as to what these files are and how safe it is to get rid of them? Some of them are a couple of gB in size, and are taking up needed memory.

Once you've completed the .avi and your project is done, you can safely delete the files. A .avi file is self-contained. If you'll ever be editing the project again, then you might want to keep them around.

I don't recognize any of those files as being from Movie Studio. So, safe bet that they're coming from "Click to DVD" (especially the .ac3 files). Again, if you've completed your project then you can delete them.

.pcm & .ac3 are audio files, m2v is video. You could be rendering to elementary streams (separate video and audio), but MS can't produce the .ac3 files. Alternatively, DVDAS may be splitting your MPEGs into elementary streams but the .ac3 files must have come from either a different program or an MPEG2 file produced in a different program.
