Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005)

I've been using Vegas 8 for a long time, but today, out of the blue, after nearly 15 years of use, it started giving me a weird error. Upon research, I found that a lot of people have had the same issue, except not in the same function. I decided to upgrade to the latest Vegas pro to try and fix the problem, but it's not working either. And it's happening not when I open but whenever I try to render files. Here's the exact message I receive:

I have an AMD Processor which i know have issues with this, but none of the fixes i've read about online have worked for me and i'm at my wits end - I'm a podcaster and use Vegas for ALL our shows, and we do almost a dozen every week. I'm on deadline for one of them now and find myself unable to do anything. Can someone help? I don't have an Intel or Nividia on my system, so those tricks don't work for me....please help!

Seems like it's your sound card or sound drivers . Could be a hardware issue. Do you have a system guru on hand? Have you made any system changes lately? Can you roll back your Windows if you have made system changes?

After researching the \Programs\Vegas\plugins\Audio_x64\sfppack1_x64.dll, I think this is a system error. Easiest thing is to roll the system back to a point where all was well. This is easy to do in windows. Use system restore. If you've never done it, find someone close who can help.

That was the first thing I checked - I got a new PC about two months ago, and system restore wasn't automatically set up - I went into grab the restore point, and...nothing was there. The weird thing is the old Vegas was working FINE 24 hours ago. And nothing new was installed in that time. I think my virus program may have removed a string of something that caused the error, as it's the only thing that ran between my using the program yesterday and today. And i completely dread doing a total PC reset - still hoping there's another way around it...:-)

Have you tried reinstalling Vegas? Also I note it's installed on your D Drive not the usual C drive? There has been occasional mention that it's best to put it on C Drive.

On this computer, the D drive IS the C drive because the C Drive is the solid state drive and it doesn'thave room for practically anything. All the program files are on D because of that. But it turns out that I may have been panicking for nothing - when I made a brand new project, rather than trying to load an older one, it worked fine, and there were no problems rendering at all. Weird, but I'll take it. And thanks to all who offered help. Hopefully, it won't happen again...crossing my fingers...
