Unstable Firewire performance

Hey I have the boxed version of Vegas 5+DVD. Wierd thjings happen when I use the firewire, after about 10 minutes it just stops working. Even if I am just previewing on an external monitor it will drop the signal. I have Vegas 4 on the same machine, and it doesnt do this. Any ideas?

I also cant capture... it goes dropout crazy.

Do you have just the camera attached? If you have other devices attached, temporarily remove them and try again.

already thought of that.. also have 3 different Firewire cards I tried, plus the one in my Soundblaster Audigy2 card.. all same problem. Vegas 4, Windows Movie maker (dont laugh at least it works) all work fine.
