I was wondering similarly to an issue I brought up in June regarding the mouse pointer disappearing in the timeline window in DVDAS. I just submitted a support question referencing my original question asking when a patch would be forthcoming.
We'll see.
This is just a user forum, no one here will know when an update will be released. You have to communicate with SCS directly.
I did as you asked and submitted a "support question" 4 days ago. As of this moment, I have received no response at all.
The reason I asked here is that it seems like a few of the folks at this forum are connected with Sony. I thought one of them might have the inside track as to when an update would be forthcoming.
I hope an update is around the corner. It seems silly that Windows Movie Maker would work so much better than VMS 10... It also seems silly that I would need to jump through so many hoops just to get VMS to work at all...
I send Sony support the following support question a week ago:
"Hi,
Back in June of 2010, I submitted a question about the fact that VMS 10HD plat chops up audio from Samsung HD camcorders when importing the file to the time line in VMS. I was told that this was a known issue and a fix was imminent. When will a fix be released so that folks with Samsung camcorders who bought the program can use the program?"
As of today ( a week later), I still have received no response. I added another question today to the same support question. I asked them to please respond even if the response was that they had no intention of fixing the bugs in VMS 10.
Honestly, it would be nice to know if there is ever going to be a bug fix or if this is going to be Sony's equivalent of WIndow's Vista.
Actually, that is not quite fair since Microsoft actually worked pretty hard at fixing the bugs in Vista.
Well, it is pushing 2 weeks since I sent in a support question about when we might expect a possible update to the problems folks are having with VMS 10. For those of you who are not keeping track, the program was released back in June of 2010 and Sony (nearly immediately) admitted that there were some serious bugs that needed to be updated. When I telephoned tech support and asked back then about when we might expect an update, I was told that an update was "imminent".
So here it is 6 months later, and I have learned that the word imminent definitely means different things to different people.
Since two weeks have gone by without any response from Sony about my support inquiry, I think I should consider that they have no intention of responding. I will no longer update this particular topic tree unless I actually receive a response. So As you see this topic sink slowly to the bottom of the forum page, consider that this means Sony has still not bothered to respond to their own support system.
Well, as I promised, I said I would only update this topic if Sony responded to my support question. After 2 full weeks, I received a response.
Of course the response was more of an apology for not responding for 2 weeks and in all fairness, that is acceptable considering that I did not have a time sensitive question to begin with. If you have been following this silliness, you know that VMS 10 does not import Samsung HD camcorder files properly so there is no rush on the fact that I paid for a program that is nearly useless to me (without jumping through lots of hoops).
Their response about how there still is no fix for this problem is that they have no idea when (or if) a fix will be forthcoming. So I guess I should check back in a couple of more months and see if they have decided to release a fix for something that was not broken in previous iterations of the program.
On the plus side, they did respond in less than a month.
Thanks for the update Dr., but pretty much confirms what we already new. Sonys main focus in video editting is on their Vegas Pro, their customer service is terrible, the Studio version is looked at and treated like a step child. Cin
