update (2.0 OR 1.0e) SOON?!?!

Don't you think we're due for an update to this software by now? I like the program very much but i still cannot burn (-) discs with it. Everything else (including firmware) is completely updated and works fine - but i have to burn (-) discs with Nero or DVDlab because apparently, with my configuration, DVD Architect only wants to burn (+) discs. I'm hoping an update will fix this problem. (I'm also hoping version 2.0 will have transitions for menus, even if just a simple dissolve).

If you hop over to the Vegas forum, there's a thread saying that Sony announced the upcoming release of the next version of Vegas+DVD. Apparently there are quite a few enhancements to the DVD Architect portion. I've no idea if the new DVD Architect will be sold seperately so that you don't have to buy the new Vegas, too. No idea when the release would be, either.

There's a link in one of the forum message for the press release, but it's not working for me.

Sony retracted the release statement saying it was inadvertant.

Ah. I probably would've known that if I'd read the whole thread.

Is there a link to the retraction?

Thanks,
Rob

I think the (in)ability of DVDA to identify and burn to -R is specific to certain burners - I have two burners, an A04 which works fine, and a Lite-On which only works with +.

That would concur with my experience because I have a LiteOn 411s burner - which is why i'm hoping this problem is solved in an DVDA update. Good program though. Very simple and easy to get stuff done quickly.

I think you're correct, as I have no problems burning -R or +R in my Pioneer A06.

All I know is they pulled it from the web, though a copy of it was still available in one of the topics in the Video forum (somewhat buried though, you'd probably need to use the non-thread mode for the forums in order to find it).

There wasn't a lot of detail in the release. I believe the V5 and DVDA 2 will be announced at NAB (or previewed, or whatever they call it) this April.
