update software from 9 to 11

Do I need to uninstall an older version of VMS before I install the update. I'm updating from 9 to 11. When I tried the install I'm receiving an error code 1601 at the end of the installation.

No, they install into different folders. Having multiple versions is not a problem and uninstalling one doesn't affect the other.

What version of Windows?

I have windowsXP.I was able to install on a laptop that had no previous verson but than it wouldn't load on the other

I can't explain the error. Can you launch it? If not, try installing again.

I was able to install vms after running the repair netlink software that came with the installation disc. Its working great and I like all the new features on vegas 11 although I have not updated to the latest fix 283 I'm going to wait for the next one.
