UPDATED photos and the 23 August description from CamcorderInfo

Looks nicer than I expected. NOW, if they would only introduce one in about that price range with XDCAM EX specs.

Actually, I would be happy with ONE EX spec on this one, HD instead of HDV.

Interesting, nice gallery of pics. But only ONE 1/2.9 CMOS sensor...

For roughly the same price, one can get a 3CCD in Sony and Canon. Another site called it a shoulder mounted Sony FX7 which currently MSRPs a bit higher (the FX7 has 3 x 1/4 CCD).

That said, this move by Sony does suggest that people want better semi-prosumer cams with more features, and... more pro "looks."

As with anything tech, prices keep going down.
Things change yet remain the same.

Dunno if it's a good cam though (and that's what matters).

WAY to much plastic, for me. It is the cheapest looking Sony I have ever seen, appearance and materials wise.

Sounds like they dusted off an old relic from the past.

BTW, I thought that camera was badass when I first saw it back in the day. I mean, analog audio meters on the side! Too kewl. =]

At least it looks a little bit better than that goofy Panny DVC series of cameras.

The styling reminds me of the give away cameras a few years ago. Buy a subscription to Newsweek and get a free 35mm "Focus Free Camera."

Is that sort of like "One size fits nobody?"
