Updated to Vegas Pro 19 from 15. Boris Primatte will not install

Gary-Fitch wrote on 5/14/2022, 4:39 PM

I tried to install Boris Primatte Studio using my Primatte Activation and Install info in my Magix upgrade email. I successfully activated it, and then went to Boris website to get installer and when trying the install it it informs me that it's an older version and I must update to a compatible version?

Your assistance in resolving this is needed and appreciated.

Thank You,

Gary Fitch

I struggled with this as well.

What I ended up doing was downloading Continuum 2021.5 (Continuum_2021.5_OFX_Hosts_14_5_3_Windows.exe) -- and then it would accept my Primatte license.

Unfortunately it blew out Title Studio (which was more important to me), so as close as I can figure there is no way to have both without upgrading to a paid license.

From BorisFX's Knowledge Base re Continuum units from different versions:

Q. I had some older Boris plugins that disappeared. What happened?

Only one version of Boris FX Continuum plugins can be installed for VEGAS Pro at any one time. So, if you have an older version of VEGAS with legacy Continuum plugins, these will be replaced with the newer versions that ship with VEGAS Pro 19. We highly recommend uninstalling any existing Boris FX plugins previously installed on your system to avoid problems. To do this, right-click the Start button and click Control Panel. Go to Programs and Features (if your Control Panel is in Category view, go to Uninstall a Program). Find Boris FX Continuum, click to select it, and then click Uninstall.

However, if you want to keep your older Boris FX plugins, then you do not install these current products as they will overwrite any older plugins.

I get that. I routinely uninstall everything anyway.

Back to Primatte, what tripped me up was the link in the email, where Boris subsequently directed me to the latest version, which evidently does not work with the serial number. After installing 2021.5, it licensed without issue. At least for me.
