Updating, keeping past versions question

OK, had to keep using VV4 until I finished some projects. Finally Just installed VV5/DVDA2. VV4 was under a Sonic Foundry directory. Now have VV5 under athe SONY directory. I know both will run fine. Don't need it though. So, I have lots already installed under VV4 such as Sound Forge. I want to remove all those directories. Looking for the Best method to move/reinstall SF and other items already useable in VV4 over to VV5 so I can delete all of the past VV4/DVD1 installations.

Also, I can not tell if my DVDA2 new serial number was a V or U and a ZERO or "O". So it did not register right and give the 30 day deal to register. Sent a note to SONY but that has to be an easy way to remove and try again. Ideas appreciated. Thanks

For the serial number...

Just COPY/PASTE the number if it's in an e-mail.
If you've tried every combination of each letter and still no go, check to make sure you didn't try to enter the activation code rather than the serial number.
If it's a printed S/N in your manual, have you tried typing out the S/N and printing it off to see if it matches?

Mario, Thanks and yes I understand the differences on the serial # and activation codes. Been using Vegas for a few years and lots of installs. The problem is I bought from SF now SONY and no e-mail to copy. The book first page is a DOTTED lettering system and you can't tell if it is a NUMBER 0 or LETTER O. Same for the V and U. But once you enter it and online register the XP Registery is set and you can't redo it. Strange thing is now that I updated to 5b I don't get the 30 trial note on the splash screen. And registery seems to have accepted another number. I even moved the computer date up a year to try and it worked. So it may be working now. Go figure. SONY will answer me back this week and solve it then.

Now the step is to remove the older VV4 and make sure the rest of the other installed plugins work etc. Example is I have Boris FX working on VV4. Now how to get it to load up to VV5. Tried to reinstall and modify but it doesn't let me reassign to VV5. So I guess I have to uninstall Boris FX and remove VV4 and then put it all back for VV5. Except my Sound Forge is installed under the Sonic Foundry directory for VV4. So guess the only path is full uninstalls of it all and then reinstall it all again. Unless someone has a better solution. Thanks
