Upgrade?

Hey everyone. Haven't been hear in ages. I'm using Vegas Pro 8 and haven't done any editing in a long time. Videos won't load. It's just junk from Youtube. Is it time to upgrade? 8 is pretty old. I have no issues with Soundforge 9.
Also, what's up with Vegas Video versus Vegas Audio?
I don't have a cell phone yet but I'll be messing with video from that.

I'm using Windows 8.1

He is how you determine that: Download the 30-day free trial of Vegas Pro 13.0. If it opens all of your videos... it's time to upgrade! If it doesn't... your problem is something else so stick with 8 until you figure it out.

"Vegas Pro - Audio" is discussion topic - not a separate version of Vegas - well, not since Vegas 3 at least ;-) .

Re 'upgrade' - download the demo, suck it and see !

PS Who else remembers Vegas Audio ?

"Who else remembers Vegas Audio ?"

I do! I do!

I have it running on a VM of Windows NT - on my Mac Pro!

I also have Forge 3.5 running on a VM Of Windows 95 - on my Mac Pro.

For you Geoff:

I have an old Dual Pentium Dell box, running Windows NT, Vegas, ACID 1.0, and my Multisound still smoking along. I even found a way to boot from a small 64 gb SSD. I have everything on that, including projects, and still have room to spare. Makes NT very snappy.

I even have an old Dec Alpha running WinNT. We actually had versions of Forge, Vegas , and ACID that we build for these things.I dont think we ever released them...maybe Forge. I don't recal.

Vegas won't open Youtube vids. I converted to MPEG with AVS free and Vegas opened it. I'm going to get Quicktime Pro. I remember having it on my old PC made things easier. Window Media Player doesn't play nice with some formats.
I just haven't used Vegas in years but I'm going to start again. Have to get used to HD. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with Vegas 8 but I'll try the Vegas 13 demo.

How are you getting videos off youtube? My dad used to use Real Player converter and I use Keepvid and I can put those on the TL. I just did the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer and it works in my copy of 10.

I'm using FreeMake VideoDownloader. I'm trying the trial of Vegas 13 and it displays the Youtube vid without converting them. I think it's time to upgrade. Vegas 8 is pretty old. Any issues will probably have to do with my graphics card. It's a good one for a laptop. GeForce 755M.
Time for an external monitor too.

- Yeah, I was there, Sonic Foundry Vegas 1.0. ... and a Sound Forge user since ver. 3.

I'm not against upgrading but it should work in 8 anyway...
