Wow, I just got that, too (and I used Vegas two days ago, so this must be new)! I'm pretty tempted now.

I'm with Jimbo, anyone know anything about the Seminar Series and Platinum support (just what is the support, we get all our info here on this forum!)?

Thanks for drawing my attention to this, Jimbo!

Indeed - I'm glad I hadn't upgraded yet.

Curse you, Jimbo. I bit the bullet and just ordered the upgrade. Because I like having the box and manuals (and dvds for the Seminar Series), I'm having it shipped (free!).

I probably didn't "need" this upgrade, and I could have spent that $150 on other software, but what the heck. :-)

My only concern is the number of issues with 9.0 I still see in various threads, so I'm keeping 8.0c installed as well.

BTW, just kidding about "curse you" - I really appreciate you letting us know! In fact, I just posted this over on the digital juice forums.

Bit that same bullet!

Just ordered mine. Awesome deal. Two days ago I almost ordered at full pop.

Merry Christmas to you, too, Sony!

Hi,
I deleted the net notify message by mistake and was wondering if Sony has the special listed somewhere on their site. I am really interested . Thanks for any info concerning this.

Neither item is worth much to me. Granted, it might be fun to talk to support about some of the "issues" in V9. It could also save you hours of time if your knowledge of Vegas does not run very deep. To me, support is for reporting software bugs and that's always free via e-mail. I hate calling support for anything. I'd rather figure it out on my own or with the use of a reference book. I usually discover more and remember it bettter. I have no clue how valuable the "training" DVD's might be. I have no patience to wade through all the basic stuff I know to get to the few things I don't know. But as I said if your knowledge of Vegas is not very deep it could save you tons of time to start with the basics and really get a grounding. So since Vegas 9, to me (despite it's problems), is worth the price of the upgrade why not take the deal and find out how valuable the freebies are.

The training DVDs would have been interesting, but since I've already upgraded to 9Pro, I guess I don't get the "late adopters bonus".

Cliff,

FYI - the link you posted seems to have your serial number (ends in BC34) encoded in it - you may want to remove the link.

Here's a "clean" link: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/promo.asp?keycode=64328

Sony's obviously trying to get out in front of the release of Spot's book.

By the way, Sony, if you're out there lurking...

You should have someone proof read your mass merchandising emails. In this one you said: "End the '00's with a bang, and enter the '10's with maximum multimedia production firepower."

There shouldn't be an apostrophe after the numbers in '00s or '10s. Plural, not possessive. Bad Sony. No soup for you!

Vegas Movie Studio to Vegas Pro for $149
I noticed over on the Vegas Movie Studio forum that some users there were pointing out that they could upgrade from *VMS* to Vegas Pro for the same $149.95. Results seemed very inconsistent (as to whether users were seeing the $149 price or not) but here is a link using the same 64328 keycode that does indeed appear to offer the $149 upgrade price to VMS users.

I know some people here have friends or clients that use Vegas Movie Studio and figured some may be interested in this incredible deal.

Well, I managed to upgrade from Movie Studio Plantinum.

I do have VP8, so could have upgraded from that, but I thought I'd give the VMS link a try. Well done Sony!

Is there a similar ink for upgrading from SF studio or Acid Studio?

Oh, and the upgrade from Vegas Movie Studio DOES include an upgrade to DVD Architect 5, too, so that really is a fantastic deal.
kraz wrote on 12/21/2009, 4:16 AM
do you get the tutorial and support with the Movie Studio deal too?
TLF wrote on 12/21/2009, 5:29 AM
Yes, you do!

I bought the downloadable version (£20 shipping + VAT to the UK), so I won't be getting any training DVD, but the Support Plan was included.

A very nice deal indeed, I think.

And so far, VP9 is behaving very well with my 4 hour HDV project. It feels much smoother than VP8 and the preview is seems to be 'better' - can't quite say what it is, but the preview looks similar to what PPro offers.
