Look at the top of this screen. Hover over "Purchase" and then click on "Upgrades". Click on the one that matches your situation.

They offered a special Upgrade Discount a few months back (maybe Jun-ish)...can't remember exactly. They sent out an email notification and of course, it was time-sensitive.

Maybe they'll do another discount for the holidays? Just speculating.

I am seeing the upgrade price as $65 for VMS 10.0 HD and $85 for VMS 10.0 HD Production Suite.

Did you receive an email offer from Sony for a lower upgrade price?

Thanks!

The upgrade price is how about half of full retail for me.

Yes. I purchased the upgrade to VMS 10.0 HD Platinum Production Suite for $49.95. But as I said earlier, that was a special price offered this past June.

Maybe some of the longtime users can chime in on Sony's discount pricing habits. This was actually my first upgrade with Sony. (I did a cross-grade to ACID Pro 7 earlier this year but that's a different kind of deal).

Sony's upgrade discounts are some of the best I've seen.

They rank very high on the "bang-for-the-buck" scale IMHO.

Here's a discussion from June regarding the "discount" email sent to registered users:

Yes, SCS offers great discounts for upgrades to registered users but only for a limited time immediately following the release of the new version.

i am a registered user and have received no upgrade notice :( I want to upgrade from Movie Studio to Vegas Pro 10 but I am holding out for a promotion ($489 is pricey for me at the moment--any savings are appreciated!).

The upgrade in June I believe was for versions that were about to be superceded by the new versions just launched.

Click on the My Account link at the top of this page and choose Preferences. Update your email preferences if needed.

Hey MSmart and Others:

I didn't receive a discount email either : (

BUT . . . I checked My Account/My Software . . .

Scroll down past where you see your product serial numbers and you will (in theory) see a box that says UPGRADES ! ! !

In this box you should see the various upgrade options and prices, for example upgrading to VMS 10.0 for $64.99 upgrading to Pro 10.0 for $489.95.

Maybe you all knew this already. This section was news to me. I guess I should poke around a little more often in the "My Account" section of this site!

There is no discount (with the exception of a recent mistake .. that was quickly corrected) when moving from the consumer version to the professional version.

yep, no current promotion is running...will hold out as long as I can...I still have my DVD architect pro 4.0 that works fine on my XP machine...will keep using that for now. Hopefully, a promotion will come along eventually :)
