Upgrade from Screenblast MS 3--I'm a newbie

I think I am behnd the times.

Last year I upgraded to Screenblast Movie Studio 3. And I finally have everything working. Screenblast Movie Stuido 3 works. I then bring the file into Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 and it works. My Plextor DVD is working and my additional hard drive is working. Yeah! (And P.S. I had a variety of problems along the way, so I am excited that it all works now and I can create DVD home movies.)

But . . . yikes. I have just read a lot of posts and have seen some have upgraded to Vegas Movie Studio 4.0, Vegas Movie Studio 6.0 and Vegas Movie Studio Platinum.

I would be more than willing to upgrade just to make sure I am connecting with everyone else in the forum . . . but I don't really need any new options that others are talking about right now. I am still in the very basic stage of making home videos.

Help.

There are so many upgrade features from version 3 to version 6 that I'm not sure I could list them all. Some of my favorites are the ability to "keyframe" your pan and scan pictures and video. Also "green screening" was added in version 4. Some of the newer features are so cool, that if I had known the full version of Vegas had these before, I would have probably dropped the extra $500 for it.

My vote is that you get the upgrade and spend a little time on the learning curve of the new techniques. In the long run, I think you will be better off.

Just to throw in my 2 cents...

There's no doubt in my mind that upgrading is well worth it. I've used Pinnacle, Ulead, and Roxio products through the years. The platinum version of Movie Studio is the best, most feature rich, stable, intuitive, and fastest of all the programs I've tried. It uses system resources very, very frugally, allowing creation of incredible output without a very high end system. As Mike mentioned, the features you'll get in the upgrade are well worth the time it'll take to learn them. As far as cost goes...the Platinum version of the product is worth several times its cost, especially if you qualify for the upgrade price.

In short...go for it!
