Recently I decided to upgrade to AMD Dual Core processor and Gigabyte motherboard, Win XP-64 and Matrox APVE video card.
Everything seemed to be going OK after loading up XP-64 and then started to load motherboard driver disc. Blue screen and the disc failed to open so I decided that the drivers on the disc were useless anyway. Went to the website and found that their search engine would not work on my computer. Anyway, downloaded a bunch of 64x drivers (all Beta) and the newer F5 bios (beta) which supposedly made the motherboard accept dual core processors (I was not aware of this when purchasing same). I also noticed that the Sata raid 300 Sil3114 drivers had to be installed prior to installing the operating system. After reading about the 3 different ways to flash the bios I checked my Chinese to English translated manual for the procedure. Started to flash the dual bios and everthing working fine until the last step. (I have flashed many bios's). The manual says to hit escape then "Y" for yes then it will reboot. The flash pop up menu says "continue-enter" and "escape-abort". Which instruction would you use? I pushed Continue-enter and lost everything. Beware of this Gigabyte dual bios flashers. Then I checked the Matrox website for 64x drivers and found that the card I purchased has them available very soon. The bios chips are soldered in on the motherboard. You know what's crazy? I still like this board. Maybe I am round the bend.
