Hey Guys
I have Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition 7
I recently purchased vegas pro 8 upgrade from b&h whom told me before I purchased, this would work fine. I recieved in this morning and on the box it says "must have pro version 6 or 7 to upgrade.......
Kind of struck me funny so I E-mailed for confermation again..well this time (after they have my money) they told me you can't use this to upgrade from Platinum........... I don't understand. Anyone have any insight on this? Is there a difference in the upgrades?
Please help
Thanks mike

did you e-mail them the first time asking if you could upgrade from platinum? If so, respond back saying "hey, you told me I could, I want my $$ back so I can get the correct one".

Is there a difference in the upgrades?

Yes, although it's more about the license than it is the software (since you always get the exact same software whether you're upgrading or not).

When you buy directly from Sony, you pay more if you're upgrading from Vegas Movie Studio 7 than if you were upgrading from Vegas 7. You can see Sony's upgrade prices here. As you can see, to upgrade from VMS 7 to Vegas Pro 8 costs about $425, whereas going from Vegas 7 to Vegas Pro 8 is $234. BH Photo is selling the Vegas 7 to Vegas 8 upgrade.

My guess would be that either there was a miscommunication when you bought the upgrade, with the person at BH thinking you had Vegas 7, or b) that person didn't realize there was a difference.

Mike, you may have to buy Vegas 6 from BH for $99 HERE. That'll make the total upgrade cost $198, but I don't know if it includes DVD Architect.
