upgrade suggestions

I am going to be upgrading my system and need suggestions for good audio video PC.

I am currently running 98SE on 850mhz with 512 ram. I will probably go to a raid system and double my ram. I realize I will need to go to XP pro but I am a happy user of a gadget labs 824, that has no XP drivers. I am open to suggestions about sound cards. I prefer a rack mount 8in and 8out. I also need to know what video card to get for connecting to Vegas.

What speed do you all recomend, and do you have component brand preferences (motherboards, RW drives etc.)

Think there is a gadget lab driver out there that works with xp. Search around a bit. Pretty sure I found one a few months back and posted some info in this forum somewhere. If I feel energetic later, maybe I'll look for it. If you're feeling energetic do a search in this forum.
