Upgrade thru download (Windows 10 Intel i5 8Gb Ram)

I have had the Movie Maker v 13 and it is super.......so I thought maybe I could take a risk and upgrade to version 14.

!! Disaster!!

Currently my software is unable to render a movie and therefore it is useless. I am hoping support can provide some hope and solve this problem. Package seemed to install smoothly enough...but best to test the kit......then I noticed that simple things like contrast control etc. were simply not working.......the promotional FX features were OK but the standard stuff was simply dead!!! I thought this could be something to do with my Sony film or maybe I was not familiar enough with the new application. The final crack came when I tried to produce my test movie - 5% rendered and crash! ....I have reported issue to Magix...ok got a ticket!!! So I also approached FX as error report pointed clearly in their direction:

Fault Module:        C:\Program Files\Sony\Movie Studio Platinum 14.0\OFX Video Plug-Ins\Vfx1.ofx.bundle\Contents\Win64\Vfx1.ofx...

they came back quickly to say that there was nothing wrong with their product and I should go to Magix!!

Any body have any idea..thanks

I.m.o. its better to ask this on the Movie Maker forum, this is a forum for Vegas Movie Studio users.😀
If you want answers overthere its better to give a litle bit more info on sourcefiles, projectproperties, used effects and rendertemplates.

Apologies package is the Vegas Movie Studio 14 Platinum. Further to my original comments..I have traced the point where the rendering was failing and removed all material. When I tried to produce video it did not fail. So I put the material back in and I got a result,,,which is positive. My biggest question now is why is it that I cannot see in Preview mode effects like contrast or Lens flare??

Probably you accidentally pushed the "Split Screen View" button above the previewscreen.

Hi Cornico...you have something there....but what I did was clean out all F/effects from my test 8 min video and started building video again..then the function Fx button finally triggered the visibility of functions on the Preview screen as expected. I dont know what triggered all this. In my first installation I did not use Admin user..in the second I did!

then the function Fx button ..........

Which one?

There are 3 with buttons, Event FX, Track FX or Project FX and 1 without button Media FX.

Yess.
That button cannot trigger visibilaty.
When the button is blue it means there is (are) FX added to the project.
Pushing that button shows you which FX is added, see my screenshot.

The first button on the right side of that one is the Split Screen View button.
Pushing that one hides all used FX from the preview screen with all its variations like hide FX on the left or right half of the screen.
