Upgraded to 7.0c and now reliably crashes

smog wrote on 12/19/2006, 6:38 AM
Hi

I just upgraded to 7.0c and now about 80% of the time creating a subclip in the trimmer causes Vegas to crash. Am on XP SP2 on a Sony Vaio ;-)

Clips can be from any of my attached disks, MPeGs from an Everio or DV from a Sony GV-D300E, so it isn't based on the source material but the action of defining a subclip.

I have discovered I can reliably create subclips from the timeline, but subclip creation in the trimmer still crashes every time

Smog,

This forum is not frequented by the people at Sony who would be able to help you. If you have found a bug, you should report it to Sony via Technical Support.

Good luck,
David

I am getting same message when I get a message. More often, however, Vegas just shuts down. No warning, no message....nothing. I am also running XP SP2. Though I narrowed to radiance plug-in, but I am getting dumped on an entirely different system. The problem does not replicate in 6. I am going to try my last bit of troubleshooting and load off my disk and forget about 7c for a while. We'll see if that allows me to render this project.

Backlit?

"This forum is not frequented by the people at Sony who would be able to help you."

I just did a search on our user called "ForumAdmin". And just on THIS forum alone - Vegas - I got 100 interventions by SONY in the space of 12 months on just THIS forum. Now, this may not be enough for some, I couldn't possibly comment, but saying that it is NOT frequented by SONY people aint quite "fair" in my book? If I have offended you - I apologise.

However, I would most certainly reinforce your comment here WITH your suggestion to post a BUG report PLUS, this is mine, say here that you have done so. This ways we can all keep informed as to progress on such a bug.

Look, I've reported bugs and stuff over the years. Sometimes cures happen quickly. Sometimes [My Media Manager crashing my system, remember good people?] it can take a lot longer.

Best regards,

Grazie

I'm having this problem too. V7c just totally shuts down on me. Any progress on finding the cause/solution to this?

FrankLP*,

Good news for you. 7.0d just came out yesterday. It seems to have helped a lot of people that were having problems:

Using V7d build 192 - Subclip creation from Trimmer working 100%.

Thanks Tim. Now I'm trying to figure out why the vegas70d_enu.exe file won't run. Other exe files run fine. Hmmmm

Us few solitary sods who have been saying for a few weeks now that Sony's silence on the 7C crashes that a bunch of you didn't see meant that 7d was around the corner, can now stand up and say "I told you so" but I wont because in a close community like this that would be most rude.
