There shouldn't be any problems. The full version of Vegas handles .vf files very well. Note, however, that when you save in the full version you'll get a .veg file instead of .vf, and Vegas Studio will not open .veg files. So, once you've moved to the full version you can't open your new changes in the studio version anymore.

Edit: Oops -- Kelly answered while I was typing, so my reply seems kind of redundant now...

Hi Action,

If you upgrade from VMS to the full Vegas package, you will have no trouble opening your VMS projects in Vegas. All your edits, transtions, effects, etc., will remain intact.

VMS projects are *.vf files, while Vegas projects are saved as *.veg files.

Once you save from Vegas, however, the *.veg file cannot be opened by VMS. So projects can't really be "shared" between the two programs in both directions -- Vegas can open VMS projects, but VMS cannot open Vegas projects.

Here's a link to a recent discusson on the Vegas Video forum:

And here's a related discussion about upgrading from VMS to the full Vegas:

Thanks guys, those links were extremely helpful. The biggest reason seems to be, 'to get unlimited tracks' which would be my reason to upgrade.
