Upgrading to Vegas Pro 15

Background:

I'm a video enthusiast who purchased Vegas Pro 10 years ago to make several home videos with kids graduations from high school, and several other small projects.

I don't need to upgrade but know that Vegas Pro 10 is "old" and at some point I will want/need to upgrade.

Questions:

(1) I'm a little worried about stability given some quick reads that I've done on problems people have had with VP 13 & 14. Will VP 15 be better or worse?

(2) Does VP15 run (with stability) on Windows 10? I currently run VP10 on Win7, and I want to upgrade to Win10. I've rarely had problems with Vegas Pro 10, and when I have I've found quick work arounds on the forums. I'm not a pro so I don't need to do fancy things.

(3) If I install on Win7, and later upgrade to Win10 will my "upgrade" license key still work. I've run into problems in the past upgrading products and then moving to a new system where I've had to re-install the application only to find, that the license key will not activate a "new installation".

Thanks in advance to the forum members and to the Vegas team for creating an awesome product.

Answers: (1) Same, but YMMV. (2) Yes. (3). Yes.

However, you should wait for Vegas 16 - it will likely come out towards the end of August.

And ALWAYS install a trial first and test on your specific editing computer.

I totally agree. You might as well wait for 16 at this point. It is just around the corner. I have found V14 and 15 to be comparable in terms of stability.

Since VP10 quite a lot was done in VP to support hardware acceleration and make your workflow smother.

However, for these acceleration VP rely on hardware and drivers.

If your hardware (GPU) and your drivers are not very outdated you should not have any stability issues. Otherwise you may face some stability issues (most of these issues can be worked out manually).

So, as it was already suggested, install trial version to check if you have compatibility issues. FAQ should help you to find a solution if you have any issue.
