DVDA can do progressive.

With your video added in DVDA, click on it to highlight it, then in the Properties pane, click on Track Media, highlight the filename below it, then click the down arrow and select Media Properties. In the Video Stream section, click Field order and choose "None (Progressive scan)"

As for the aspect ratio, go to File > Project Properties and choose a non-widescreen format in the Video format field.

I hope that gets you what you need.

OK, from what I understand you're not fussed about the scan mode as you can fix that using Nero? What you want to know is why you get black bars? I'll make another assumption here: the black bars are top and bottom?

Perhaps your Vegas project is set to widescreen and you need to make it a regular 4:3. Look at File, Properties. You can choose the correct template from the drop-down list.

Alternatively, in the same dialog box, click on the folder symbol just to the right and browse to your source media file (AVI, MPG, whatever) and the project aspect ratio will then match your media.
Hope that helps. If not, I've completely misunderstood your question.

i can eliminate the need for nero if dvd archtect studio 3 didn't change my 24 frame rate film, that i pull from vegas movie studio to dvd archtect studio, to 29.97 that what keeps my film interlaced even when its progressive. but it wont let me change it from 29.97 to 24
