URGENT help needed!! AVI render problem

I am in desperate need of help, as the final draft of a project that I need to turn in to a client is due later today. Here's the issue... I am using Vegas 5, and my project is 25 min long, at NTSC 24 fps. I set the render to DV AVI at 24p w/ pulldown, and let it go. After about 3 hrs, ot rendering, it says it has completed, and I know for a fact it rendered the whole thing because I looked at the preview window several times to see what point it was at. After it's done, I go to open the file in Win media to make sure its ok before a DVD write, and each time it shows the file as being only 4 min long! (a 4.8 GB file, while it should be well over 20 GB). And this isn't a fat 32 problem because I'm using an NTFS drive. I'm completely stumped, and I've gone over the project to see if anything could have caused it, and have found nothing. And I also made sure the "render loop region only" was unchecked before I rendered both times.

Can anyone help? I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks.

25mins of DV should be roughly 4.8GB unless you're rendering to another codec.
Why don't you try opening the file in Vegas?

Well, Vegas opened it, and it's 25 min! It's just baffling to me that all the media players I open the file in cut playback at 4:20, and even file properties in windows explorer says it's 4:20. I was just so panicked I forgot to try re-opening it with Vegas. And I was thinking uncompressed with the file size, because I've done several uncompressed renders lately. Well then again 4:00 AM isn't the best time to think straight. Thanks for the help, and the quick reply!

ive had this problem NUMEROUS times... i cant put my finger on what the problem is.

I initially thought it was the HDD WinXP easy indexing, but it turns out that that didnt make a difference..

also with this problem, u might find that some encoder programs wont recognise teh video after thei 4.20min threshold either... it, mainconcept standalone encoder, procoder etc etc

i still cant figure out what causes it... but for me, it seems that the problem just vanished..

Not sure if it's applicable or not but the following is from Edward Troxel's Vegas FAQ:

Rendered AVI only shows as 4:42 in other players

By default Vegas renders OpenDML AVI files, also known as ODML or AVI 2. This allows AVI's to overcome their historical 2 GB file size limitation while retaining partial compatibility with older readers that don't fully understand the new format. In the sake of ultimate backwards (partial) compatibility, the format limits the amount of a data older readers can access to the first 1 GB of an OpenDML AVI.
In most cases, Window Media Player should be able to see the entire duration of a large OpenDML AVI file rendered by Vegas. However, in Options => Preferences... => General, make sure that "Strictly conform to AVI2 specification" is not checked (unchecked is the default). If it is checked, Windows Media Player will most certainly only see the first 1 GB of the file, which for DV comes out to about 4 1/2 minutes.
As of version 5.0.2, QuickTime for Windows still doesn't completely handle large OpenDML AVI files, so it will only see the first 1 GB (4 1/2 minutes of DV). RealPlayer is also limited in this way. In fact, most readers not based on Microsoft's DirectShow will probably show this behaviour, and those that are based on DirectShow will show it as well if "Strictly conform to AVI2 specification" is checked in Vegas.
If OpenDML .avi is unchecked, Vegas will write standard AVI's that should be fully compatible with all AVI readers. However, they would then be limited to 2 GB in size.
