USB 2.0 Drive Not Recognized by CDA 5.0

danhazer wrote on 6/7/2003, 12:25 PM
I cannot get CDA to recognize a Lite-On USB 2.0 drive. The application hangs for about 45 seconds when it scans for drives and then comes back and says "None" for drives available. Oddly, when I connect the drive to one of the USB 1.1 ports, then CDA can find it right away. This leads me to the logical question, does CDA support USB 2.0? This is obviously not a major problem being that I have already found a work around, but it would be nice to have the full capability of my new CDRW.

Thanks,

Dan

Hey Dan, i have this same problem - hopefully we can figure it out. I'm running a Iomega USB2. It will burn to it but wont see it to extract or play from. SF Support says its me/my PC, but i'm not sold totally on that.
take care,
Josh

Sounds to me that the Lite-On USB2 driver might not be fully compliant. Or possibly CDA wrt USB2.

Anybody got *any* USB writer working on CDA5 ?

FWIW, I'm still not convinced that any flavour of USB is approprite for realtime things. But I'm just an old stick-in-the-mud.

Good question! Anyone? In case it helps, to clarify, my PC (Win98SE-with ALL the updates and a supersize fry and drink) DOES BURN to USB2, but will NOT 'see' it from the EXTRACT box - so it sends but won't receive apparently. SF support says USB2 should work. I had to save my big (ones with lots of Plugz) projects as Image (Rendered) files first then Burn with NO pre-rendering, which seemed to reduce my coaster production output. Also, in case anyone is interested, i had to adjust the Performance slider on the extract box to the 2nd lowest setting to extract from my INTERNAL CDROM drive without digital error clicks in the extracted audio. Its a fairly new CDROM drive (2001) which in theory should work fine, but if you hear clicks and pops in your extractions, may want to fiddle with this parameter. Be careful though, at the lowest setting it sounded like i was getting noticeable jitter (that funky FModulation crap).
take care and good luck all!

I use a plextor 24/10/40U with no problems. During the CDA Beta I had issues that were resolved by updating drivers for the adaptec usb/pci card.
