arcitecht. are usb devices compatible with sound forge
products? when I use the advance feature to make my burner
recognized by cd arch it keeps freezing up, and when it
dont freeze up it keeps saying no disc and none of the
buttons work unless i disconnect the cd burner. the model
im using is a sony usb crx100e (spressa). if anyone can
help me out i would be forever in your debt i tried
EVERYTHING possible. If its not compatible then im out of

Yah

Firstly, download the CD Architect version 4.0g update off of this
site. Otherwise you wont be able to see the drive. w/o it.
Secondly, pray... - mine froze up half way through a burn crx100e/x2
sony spressa. - upon reboot - win98 said I had a new USB device and
toasted my original Onspec atapi drivers. I was unable to re-install
the sony drivers - or the stand alone ONspec drivers - I ended up
calling tech support at sony ... I had to unninstall SF 4.5 all USB
devices and re-build everything. Even after this, my spressa is now
still un-opperational - fucked up. The gent at Sony told me that
their CD Extreme software will not run happily if you install other
burning software I.E. CD Architect. - Obviously they were right.
Further more, the CD Extreme software they give you blows ass - ohh
sure, it's good for those who just want to drag and drop shit on CD,
but, there is no .WAV editing and marker support for creating
multiple tracks w/ crossover's off one file. (I need this as I
sometimes DJ straight into the PC. IE one big wav file) So, I highly
recommend trashing this unit and buying one that has full support by
SonicFoundry. (infact Bundled w/ SF and CD arch) PS, if you techs at
SF are reading this, please, enlighten me as to what I can do?! is
there something more I can obtain (software drivers etc) that will
allow this fucking unit to work correctly w/ CD architect?

It's sad really, The Spressa CRX100E/X2 looked like a good buy
considering it was USB and supported both MAC and PC platforms. My
thought was to use this drive on both as I will soon have a mac and
PC. Last night I re-installed my trusty yamaha 4416sx and lo and
behold it worked like a charm w/ no changes to any drivers. I will
have to install Direct CD from Adaptec, but Cd Architect worked
great. On a side note I was finally able to get the spressa to be
recognized by the system w/out installing CD Extreme (the software
that "supposedly" caused problems w/ Cd Architect in the first
place).. Regardless, CD arch would see the drive and start the burn
(the initial phase) once it got to 99% through the first phase, the
thing would hang. Essentially the only option left was a cold boot.
even after dropping the burn speed to 2x the same problem would
occure, infact it wouldn't even get through the first phase.. (hung
at 0%) - what can I say, all other USB devices in my system work like
a charm, no hitches. Actually the spressa works great with CD
Extreme as it's only burning software. - I had to tweak CD Extreme a
bit but eventually I had it running fine previous to installing CD
Architect. All I can say is after looking at the nature of the
drivers for the spressa (Onspec Atapi + IDE (miniport+USB)) they
sucked ass. Very specific install - one step wrong and a totall
recall of all drivers had to be done in safemode (remove all USB)
then re-install all USB in normal mode, reboot, then plug in spressa
and install the ONSpec individual drivers (available from sonys site
only) -

Another note, under system/devices/CD-ROMS the spressa shows up as
CRX120E transversly, this is also true in CD Architect. Skrewed up
sums it up.

athlon 650
asus k7m mobo (latest bios/+asus drivers for win98se)
256 m/ram
etc..

- hey SonicFoundry, maybe you should not support the spressa? I can't
imagine you actually got one of these to work right considering the
nature of the drivers?! Sure it shows up as a usuable device in your
drive chooser, but it sure as F*#$ isn't working... Has this unit
been tested with an actual burn or two under cda4.0g? - hmmmmmm
