As I show you in my book, under the File menu, you will find Properties. In this menu, you can switch your project between settings for BluRay and settings for DVD.

Of course, if you want to produce a BluRay, you'll want to ensure your source video and photos are hi-def (1920x1080). Otherwise, you'll just end up with a very blurry BluRay disc.

And, if you plan to use those same hi-def sources to create your DVD, expect rendering times to be extremely long, because the program will need to down-rez the hi-def files and then re-encode them as standard definition video.

Thanks, Steve. In part due to assistance from people like you on the forums, I have become adept at using source files that do not require recompression by DVDA. Your tip will save some time in fulfilling a couple of BD orders that I have for this show.

This little trick worked out well. I modified the project properties from 16x9 DVD to Blu-ray keeping all the chapter marks and menu pages. I rendered AVC files at 18Mbits for the main program, second night cast bows and one brief background video for the main menu. Not remembering what I did the audio tracks at. For some reason this Aladdin music sounds especially good on the original capture from the mixer at the rink so I tried to keep it intact (no extra compression or limiting).

The Vegas render to AVC took 10 hours on my Q6600 quad core computer versus 3.5 hours for the SD version. This is a 1 hour 15 minute program with color correction on all 3 cameras (Canon HV20, 40 and some more expensive pro Canon cam).

The DVDA render to disk took about an hour and another 40 minutes to burn to a rewritable BD disc. I have some 25 GB blanks coming that I can run through my HP printer. Gotta remember to modify the label to indicate "BD" somewhere.

Now back to the 12 hour mud bog edit, already in progress.
