Using a 4:3 and a 16:9 camera

OK, if I say anything stupid, please forgive me. I have a Canon GL2 that I use and have just purchased a Canon HFS100. I am using the GLS as my main camera, and the HS100 for wider shots. Can anyone tell me how I can produce a final DVD video for parents that will not show the changing screen areas for the two different aspect ratios?
Can I somehow crop the HFS100 video to match the aspect ratio of the GL2? I realize that I would be cropping off some of the image, but that is OK.
Any help would be appreciated.

Check this article and maybe it will shed some light.

I was looking at it (actually a parent of it) to help me understand the PAL vs NTSC thing.

The GL2 can record in 16:9 mode. In the C. CAM MENU, choose CAM. SET UP then turn 16:9 on. (Page 37 of your manual).

However, I believe your bigger issue is that the HFS100 is an HDV camera while the GL2 is SD.

But to answer your question, Event Pan/Crop and choosing the appropriate preset is how you change the aspect ratio of an event (clip) on the timeline.
