Using a JVC HM-DH30000 for capture

I am using Vegas 5.0 demo version for the first time and having problems with video capture.
I have a 2.8 gigahertz Pentium 4 processor, 1 gig of ram, and just installed an ADS PYRO 64 firewire card. I"m using a DVHS VCR with firewire out. It seems that the computer sees it, but not properly. And when I try to capture video, the preview says "Preview is Turned OFF"
The firewire card did not come with software, so I didn't install any. In the capture window under the "video button" it says that the capture device is a Microsoft AV/C TAPE SUBUNIT DEVICE. I think it should say Microsoft DV capture device, or something like that.
Anybody have any ideas of why I cannot capture video. Or how to solve this problem?
Anybody out there use a JVC HM-DH30000 for capture?
Thanks!

Use either CapDVHS (free)

or

Cinneform Connect HD ($150 with a two week trial)

Thanks for the info. I downloaded it, saved some video by using this utility, but I haven't been able to see it in the Vegas software. I'll keep trying.

You wont see Cineform in the Vegas software. It's a separate application.

One link of intrest to you would be this one: http://www.webtc.com/DVHS/default.htm

Also I posted a response to a question that I had asked in another forum from someone who used Vegas with a DH30000 deck. It breaks down the exact steps to do what you are asking.

Keep in mind however this is pre-Connect HD and pre Vegas 5d.
