using a plug in

Hi,
I was wondering one thing. I am new here and am unfamiliar with the terminology etc.

A person on here gave a suggestion about distorting audio files to make them sound like vinyl. I dowloaded the plug in but now I cant seem to find it/use it. Can I use it in Vegas? If so how. Thank you very much

here is the website izotope.com and here is what it says there(what does it mean?):
Formats: Pro Tools 6.1+ (RTAS/AudioSuite/HTDM), VST, MAS, Audio Unit, DirectX

You need the Direct X version of Vinyl to work in Vegas. it's a great plug, and for free, you can't beat it!

Hi DSE,
thanks for your answer. I will download it now, and where will it appear in Vegas? How do I use it on the audio track? thanx again

It will appear in your audio plugins folder, so when you click for an audio plug on a track or audio event, master bus or aux bus, you'll find the plugin there. As far as using it, you'll want to insert the plug and then experiment with vocals, music, sound FX, etc to see how it best works/sounds for you.
For a huge list of DirectX plugs... www.directxfiles.com will show you more plugs than you know what to do with.
Have fun.

DSE,
thanks so much for your help. I feel so dumb though, I mean I dowloaded the thing and then I dont know how to use it in Vegas. which is my audio plug in folder? Is it the one with Tools>Audio> Insert Assignable FX ?? If so then it is not there, and I cannot browse from that window onto my harddrive...

Im so anxious to use it and all the other plug ins from the page that youve recommended but I dont know how to get it started. Please help me. Thank you again for your patience.

Good deal. In case you didn't find all of it, click the audio FX button on a track header. (little green button)
This opens the audio FX dialog. Look in the Third Party folder. You'll find the iZotope tools there.

Good deal indeed. This izotope is really fantastic. I have a follow up question, DSE. Which plug in would you suggest for film look appearance? which do you use? And finally, which plug has different audio effects, such as sound of an explosion, bells ringing, alarm clock, jet plance etc?

Regards
Oliver

There isn't a plug-in that has all those audio effects.
You can find audio files for hundreds of different sound effects, from a lot of different sources on the Web. Just to a Google search for sound effects files (or some such combination of words), and you'll find a whole lot of free ones, along with some you have to pay for.
Then when you've downloaded the ones you want, you just place them on an audio track in the Vegas timeline, wherever you want the sound to occur.
(If you don't know how to place audio events on the timeline, please refer to the Vegas documentation.)

Do a search for username "Spot" or "DSE" and "film effects." He's posted a lot of stuff. Also, I think he has posted articles and tutorials either here:

VASST Tutorials

or here:

DMN

Both sites require a free registration to use the site. The DMN forum contains all sorts of things totally unrelated to Vegas, so you'll need to "drill down" to find the Vegas stuff.

On the VASST site, I think you'll find a reference to a product they sell called Celluloid. I have not used it myself, but it contains all sorts of features to help you get a "film look."

You can also find Edward Troxel's Film script on the www.jetdvcom/vegas site.

Thanks again
Oliver
oli29 wrote on 2/28/2005, 8:47 PM
whats weird is that when I mute ALL tracks the skipping continues...
Spot|DSE wrote on 2/28/2005, 8:49 PM
Just open the plugin, and click the "remove" button, looks like a Red X
