Using Color corrections i.e. Curves,Balance etc.?

Do most of you find the color corrections usefull? Do they negatively affect the video quality? I know, you're probably thinking just try them yourself and see...well I did and it seems to look fine...but I remember from processing digital photos if you add corrections some pic's suffer some don't..and sometimes the degradation doesn't show up until I posted on line. So, this is just a general question since most of you have way more experience than I do.

Thanks

All of my videos have color grading (not color correcting though -- there's a slight difference, color correcting tries to get accurate colors, while grading usually makes them less real and more artsy). Quality does degrade on 8bit footage with 8bit color processing. For zero degrading, you'd need Vegas Pro 11, which has support for 32bit editing, and 32bit plugins too (but it's super slow). However, when weighing how a video would look with or without grading, I prefer the grading, in the expense of losing a bit of quality. Most viewers in fact hate most bad sound rather than a bit less clean picture.

Thanks Eugenia. That helps. I think I'll only use it in vid frames that look particularly drab or dull
