Me too...I saw it mentioned in a magazine, and wondered if any one
actually uses this....lets hear about it!

Actually, I think there is a bit of a misnomer here. I know that a
few people have been using the word "editlist" to simply describe a
Vegas Project - a series of edits, or a version of a project. David
Ruby, I believe, uses this terminology. As for the edit list in
Vegas, It can be very useful for syncing events to specific moments
in time - to timecoded video or time locked portions of a project.
You can manually enter in the time at which an event should appear in
the project, how long it is, the end point. You can affect the
switches here, too. Normalize, etc. Also, say you have many many
events in a project and you want to locate where one is quickly, you
can use the "select" switch to select it in the project. You can
easily change the name of a take. You can use it to change the names
and times of markers and regions, etc. There's quite a lot of power
in it if you're used to working that way. I, personally, barely ever
use it.

I use it this way: If I need to build or design something at say
01:20:00:00 Vegas won't let you go there unless you have a sound
there, since it only sees about a 2:00 minute window/view on
any "new" project. So I just throw some sounds in at say
01:00:00:00, open the edit list and type in the desired location by
the sounds in the list and hit enter...I now have opened my project
at least that far. BTW I work in hour episodic TV, but this applies
to shorter length project as well of course. One of these days I'll
motivate myself to actually build a template that's long enough...but
I guess that's just too damn easy! Brett Crockett wrote: >>Hello all, >>Some recent posts have discussed the Edit List and I >>haven't really used the event list very much.
