Nope, we need QuickTime in order too have access to the various QT formats.

I figured as much. I wonder why so many of the video files on the content disk are MOV format.

I found a couple of free standing convertors I will try first.

You can download the free Quicktime player (current version 5.0.2)
directly from Apple. Installing this player also installs & registers the
quicktime codec. After this, VideoFactory & Vegas will be able to read
and write .mov files.

Thanks, I am just hesitant to add another player to my computer just to convert 4 or 5 mov files.

My experience is that these players try to reassociate everything on the computer and end up being a nuisance.

But if nothing else works, I will use this information.

Not to worry; Quicktime is very gentle. By default it only grabs
associations for Apple file types, and during installation you're given
the choice of associating nothing. It's also quite easy to alter the
associations after the fact in the control panel.
