Using techniques in multpile projects

I am using Vegas Pro 9.0c. Often times when I am editing a video I shot, I want to use some of the same techniques I have used in past projects. I have just been recreating those effects but I know there is a way of copying part of a time line and using it in another project but I am unsure how this is done. Can anyone please help me with this? Thank you.

you need to have two instances of vegas running. copy from the first instance, paste into the second. or, if it's something you use again and again without editing, render it out to a lossless codec.

Thank you dlion, i appreciate it. What do you mean by a "lossless codec" sorry for my ignorance.

Use the selection cursor to select out the area of the veg you want to save for use later.
Paste into another instance of Vegas.
Save that as a veg in a library of such veg files.
This veg can then be reworked with new footage, titles etc. and copied and pasted into the new project -- or rendered out for use in the new project.

What do you mean by a "lossless codec" sorry for my ignorance.

That refers to one of the render options in Vegas that uses so little compression as to be "loseless" , meaning its nearly the same as the original in quality-- typically Video for Windows AVI. There's a lot to rendering for quality and file size.
