Using the Focus Commandpost Controller w XP

I don't know if any of you have tried or are trying to use the Focus CommandPost Controller with Windows XP. I read in the past that some people could get it to work and some couldn't.

I found part of the trick to getting it to work is based on hardware. The CommandPost is USB1.1. I have an older computer that has a USB1.1 port on it and it worked fine on that. On my newer computer, which only has USB2, I could not get it to work by plugging it into the port.

But I did get it to work by plugging it into a USB2 HUB. There must be a different driver loaded or the HUB is handling some of the hardware differences.

I am currently updating the template that someone on this forum created a couple of years ago. If anyone is using this controller and wants my version of the template, let me know.

By the way, it is a nice little controller that sold for $200 a few years ago. You can get it now for $10 plus shipping.

I won't guarantee it will work for you. I tried it on my laptop using a hub and it did not work.

Another guy I know said it got it to work by using a USB1.1 hub.

Let me know if you try it and if it works.

I've got one of those too. I don't use it much because the shuttle wheel uses macros instead of analog control, which makes for inaccurate timeline scrubbing. Still, you could do worse for $10 (or $25, in my case a few years back). It has 15 other assignable keys as well.

BTW, if anyone knows of a way to make the shuttle wheel work better, please post your info!

My shuttle wheel works smoothly with Vegas and Pinnacle studio. It shouldn't be using macros, it just needs to use a keystroke with a PAUSE between.

If you are interested, I will post my settings. I don't have them here at work so I will post it tonight.
