using track motion and panning together

I'm working on a many-months project of converting home movies (old VHS and Hi8), including football games. Not much I can do to spruce these up, so on some of the home movies I've added the occasional cartoon or such, overlaid, just for fun, and it's been good (I keep it rare).

One thing I'd like to do in one spot is to have my video shrink and move to one corner (I use track motion for this) and at the same time bring the exact same video footage to another corner, but at the same size as the original, essentially isolating part of the video. This way, one corner shows the full context while the other corner shows more of a focus on one individual. Since I'm cropping, I'm using the pan and zoom tool for this track.

I'm experimenting with this, but any suggestions which would help it be smoother (I'm still trying to coordinate the keyframes on the panning and the track motion, for example, and not sure of the best way to bring that second track in) or more interesting would be appreciated!

thanks

Parenting one track to another makes it easier to have the child follow the parent but
I think setting a few keyframes and manually adjusting the offset number allows
more freedom since there is no de/un-parent function in the timeline.

So I think you are on the right track. (pun intended)
I like a roladex method where there are many image panels floating in space and
the group stops spinning and one moves out and turns flat to the viewer and moves
to fill the screen.

Thanks! Parenting is one thing I've never done. This will be a good chance to experiment and learn something new. I picked up Spotted Eagle's book on Pro 8, too, so I'm going to put some time into it as well.

Your other idea sounds cool, too - thanks!
