Using Vegas 5 to resize, crop and compress?

Hi, I have this tricky problem.
I want to make some RAW DV movies (which I have on disc) to fit within a square of Width: 337 pixels and height: 332 pixels.
I also want to crop these RAW DV videos since there is a lot of unnescesary information in them.
Last I want to compress these movies into a .mpg format that's very compatible with older windows media players and still keep some quality to them.
So is there a way of resizing and cropping both at the same time AND be able to control the width and height in pixels? Yes I'm talking of ignoring the 4:3 proportions here.

Is Vegas 5 the program for this or should I perhaps look for another program? If V5 is the right program for me can you then recommend how I go through with it?

Yes.. Vegas can do this very easily. Although your pixel dimensions may cause you a problem. I know that some media players/formats require that your pixel dimensions are "even" numbers that are divisible by 8. Sounds strange - but true.

You can re-size by setting your project properties appropriately (File ->Project Proterties) and then do your track/motion and/or pan cropping as necessary.
