using Vegas to do live titles

I need to do scrolling titles along the bottom of live broadcasts. I have looked at several solutions and they are either very limited in capabilities or they are expensive. And I am also looking for a solution that does not need a dedicated keyboard. So essentially I need a pc interface into whatever I end up using. I have found a couple of teasers that lead me to believe that Vegas may be able to handle the chore as long as I have a video board that will input and output the signal. Since I already have Vegas as my nle it would be a perfect fit.
Am I mistaken or does Vegas contain this capability.

vegas doesn't OFFICIALLY support this. How would you get the video in & out @ the same time? I don't believe this can be done at all in vegas. You could output stuff you put on the TL in real time if you wanted but once you hit the end of the timeline it would either top or repeat.

There's a good reason fancy stuff requires expensive equipment: it's not really that easy to do! :)

I have no expertise in this .. but a search give a possible soulution .. you, or others will have to determine if it will work and if it's within your budget.

A PC with the BLUFF TITLER software using a SDI card like something from Blackmagic Design

From a website on BluffTitler:
"iTV

The iTV (interactive television) version is identical to the PRO version, except it features SDI output. This allows you to connect BluffTitler to professional TV studio equipment. Choose Settings > Connect to SDI Framebuffer... to start SDI output. The current version supports the Blackmagic Design DeckLink card."

You could if you rendered out to a matrox hardware encoder they do real-time rendering. our one handles up to 6 channels in full mpg streaming real-time

But ooooooooops Vegas doesn’t do ticker ?????? someone forgot to put LR IN….. that’s insane but true

Probably the easiest way is to use a downstream keyer on your vision switcher, assuming you have one. If not then there's a number of cheap hardware chroma keyers available that could handle adding the supers.

Probably your biggest hurdle and what makes solutions expensive is all this has to be genlocked. Even if you have TBCs you need to be careful as these introduce a delay in the vision stream and then you've got vision out of sync with audio.

You didn't say what the vision you need to add the supers to is on, that can make quite a difference to the cost. If it;'s only a low end community setup running 4:3 SD over composite I'd be looking around for something second hand. We picked up a second hand 16x16 Talia SD switch for a couple of hundred dollars a couple of days ago. There's heaps of old kit going cheaply these days
