Using ..vf.bak file.... PLEEEASE Help!

I accidently deleted a folder that i was using for my project..... the folder was too big for the recycle bin, so Perm. Deleted...... I'm using recovery software, but its not finding the .vf file, only the .vf.bak files..... my questions..

1) anyone one else ever done this and have a way to find the .vf file?

or

2) how can i use the .bak files??

I hate to beg, but PLEEEEASE, can someone help me at all?? Thank you so much in advance!!

Rename the .vf.bak file to .vf and open it in Vegas. It probably won't be the most recent version of your project but it should be somewhat close.

Now, did you delete all the media files too? If so, you'll have to recapture them. The .vf.bak file only contains a backup of the .vf file.

Thank you for your reply,and i was hpoing you wouldnt say that b/c i've tried, and i get an error message about it not being able to load the project b/c its corrupt or an incorrect file type .... or its just loading as a new file....anyone else have any ideas that might work??

No, all the media is still where it needs to be... i had 2 folders, and was saving the project to the wrong folder... :-\

You likely have not renamed your file correctly in Windows.
Sony has been kind enough to provide instructions to do this.

Thank you... buut, unfortunately i've done that too and its not working either... :-\ im just re-doing the project... it sucks but i think it's my only option... unless there's a way to uncorrupt the file...er, i should say fix the file i suppose. Thanks for all of your info!
